This post is a bit of a distraction from the wine party notes I planned on blogging, but I love Zinfandel and we had one over the weekend. We got this Dancing Bull Zinfandel on sale for $9.99 on Saturday.
I am a fan of the zins that are big, bold and spicy and this one was just that. I have come across bigger zins before, but this was no disappointment.
This wine came out of the bottle a dark purple color, almost too dark to see through. The smell was of black pepper, dark spices and black cherries.
The flavor was pretty fruity and bold and I could pick out raspberry and cherry. It was also very spicy. I actually thought it tasted much better the next day because of the extra oxidization. It lost the hint of bitterness that I noticed on the first sip.
It wasn't a bad wine for the price. It seems like a good choice for a picnic or something. I would definitely buy it again. I bet this would have gone well with a huge burger. . . . . Man, now I want a burger.

This is an awesome blog! I'm so glad you commented on my site. I LOVE wine and love reading about it (even though I drink wine out of box most of the time)
Thanks for the compliment, I'm glad you like our geeky little blog. And there's nothing wrong with drinking wine from a box, one of my favorite Cabernets is from a box called Black Box Wines. Goooood stuff.
